Indian Dress Designers Biography
Source(Google.com.pk)"As a designer and as an individual, I have learnt to keep things minimal and it comes across in my recent collections; call it ageing, but I have realised that to say something you don't need to put it all out there," says Manish Malhotra, who has always confessed about a love for rich colours, textures and flare.
Malhotra has been associated with global corporates like American Express, Citi Bank, Wizcraft, Deutche Bank, HSBC, Moet and Hennessey, and has showcased in London, New York, Bangkok, Chicago, Antwerp, Dubai, Muscat, Kenya, Hong Kong, etc. His popularity soared when he was asked to design for Michael Jackson's appearance during the Bollywood Awards in New York. The look was a hit and he was asked by Jackson to design outfits for a show in Munich, followed by a complete wardrobe for his children!
Two decades into the industry, he racked up an A-list clientele including Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Kajol, Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. He has also bagged the Filmfare Costume Award for 'Rangeela', Showtime Opinion Poll Award for 'Raja Hindustani', Siemen's Viewer's Choice Award for 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai', Lux-Zee Cine Award and Bollywood Award in New York for 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', to name just a few, and is acclaimed for transforming Urmila Matondkar and Karisma Kapoor's image in 'Rangeela' and 'Raja Hindustani', respectively.
Bollywood aside, Manish Malhotra has styled Shah Rukh Khan's IPL team 'Kolkata Knight Riders', created a line of footwear for Metro Shoes, and may be the only designer to have his own television show. Mauritian brand 'Thomas Scott' chose Malhotra to endorse their range of shirts and Balaji Telefilms signed him to design the look for 'Mahabharata'.
The 'Manish Malhotra' diffusion and couture lines retails out of Aza, Ensemble, Evoluzione, Samsaara and Indiva in addition to flagships in Dubai and Mumbai. Additionally he has, in association with Sheetal Design Studio, unveiled a prêt collection titled 'The Enchanted Ensemble.' When asked about his current body of work, he told us, "I'm working on 'I Hate Love Stories' with Imran and Sonam, where her look is all about gorgeous summer dresses teamed with Dior resort bags. I'm also working on 'Anjaana Anjaani' with Priyanka and Ranbir; parts of it are based in New York and San Francisco so her look is going to be grunge and edgy-glamour!"
